Would you go to a foot doctor for back pain? No. Or how about a cardiologist for a sore throat? Of course not. So it stands to reason that, if a couple experiences sexual problems, that they’d want to see a qualified specialist in the field of sexuality. A certified sex therapist is trained in all areas of human sexuality, including all of its physical and psychological components.

Not anyone can become a sex therapist: In the state of Florida, a sex therapist must be licensed in social work, psychology or related fields; while there is no licensing for the state, a certification requires further training and supervision.
